Foster Children:
Youth in care through Pinehaven Youth and Family Services, Inc. are all individuals who have experiences in their young lives that they may need support and consistency to manage. They are children who may have struggles with
expressing themselves and need assistance with gaining the skills to assist themselves and become happy, healthy and successful members of the community. Youth benefit by identifying and developing coping strategies, along with necessary skills to build and maintain self-regulating behaviors. The foster care team assists each individual placed in care in positive growth and development that can lead to life-long success emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.
Pinehaven Youth and Family Services, Inc. understands that children in out of home placement may have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or multiple traumas and will consider all children for placement consistent with the individual child's or sibling group's best interest.
Foster Families:
Pinehaven Youth and Family Services, Inc. is licensed through the MN Department of Human Services to license, supervise and support families throughout the state of MN who have a desire to help youth and families through fostering. Foster families through Pinehaven Youth and Family Services, Inc. provide children a nurturing,safe, structured and consistent family environment to assist in meeting their needs.
Foster families are expected to:
- Communicate regularly with their Case Manager
- Be strong team members and work together for the needs of the youth
- Follow all court orders, treatment plans and other recommendations
- Support biological family
To become a foster parent you should:
- Possess strong characteristics to care for the special needs of children entering foster care.
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Successfully complete the Adam Walsh background study
- Complete required training
- Complete all initial and ongoing licensing requirements
- Transport children in care to all appointments and court
- Be committed to the child's social,emotional,physical,educational and cultural needs
- Be willing and able to parent children with challenging behaviors in a positive manner, providing structure, stability, and consistency appropriate to the child's developmental needs.
Description of Services:
We have licensed foster homes throughout the state of MN. Case Managers work closely with foster families providing support and assistance as needed.
Pinehaven Youth and Family Services, Inc. Case Management provides:
- Weekly contact and support to all foster families
- Minimum of twice monthly visits with the family and once a month visits with the child will occur
- 24 hour on call crisis management
- Assistance with accessing trainings specific to the needs of the child and licensing requirements
- Development of treatment plans and identifying overall goals
- Assist in accessing resources in the community to meet the needs of the child placed
- Assist with all school needs and issues
Pinehaven Youth and Family Services, Inc. Case Managers and Administration will always strive to lead a strong team to effectively work together with personnel from the placing agency, the court system, biological families and all other individuals involved to support the placement goals.
